Sustainable Development

In June, China announced a $140bn (£84bn) wind farm building programme. China’s investment in wind, including offshore wind operations, trumps the US efforts in this area. While wind is a developing feature in the ‘developed’ world, perhaps it is more developed in the ‘developing’ world. Granted, coal still rules in China, with 70% of its power coming from this polluting force. However, the need for change is apparent and investments such as the new wind farm building programme provide a hint of hope. Here’s a report on China’s wind industry from CNN:
